I am Rosanna Lopes, a dedicated community co-creator and nurturer with a rich background in affiliate marketing and a deep passion for building meaningful connections. My journey into community work began with my extensive experience as an Affiliate Marketing Manager, a role that honed my skills in relationship and partnership-based marketing. This experience taught me the importance of building lasting relationships and creating win-win opportunities, a skill I now bring to community co-creation and nurturing. One of my most significant milestones was co-founding and growing the Lisbon Digital Nomads meetup group, which attracted over 20,000 members on Meetup.com and hosted weekly events with over 200 attendees during the summer. This endeavor not only solidified my understanding of community dynamics but also fueled my passion for creating spaces where people can connect and thrive. I am passionate about intentional communities and have visited several, including Tamera in Portugal, where I completed their month-long Community Course, Piracanga in Brazil, and various communities in Mexico. These experiences have deepened my understanding of living in harmony with nature and each other, and they continually inspire my work. I've extensively trained myself on the topics of relating and community, and I've completed courses such as "Working with Conflict in Community" "Systems change" "Community building" etc. These courses have equipped me with tools that are essential for nurturing resilient and cohesive communities. I was born into two cultures, Dutch and Portuguese. I've lived for 4 years in Barcelona, 4 in London, and have been nomadicly for nearly a decade. I have a keen interest in cultures and sub-cultures and am very curious to our different views on what "Normal" means. I believe this helps me in the way that I work and approach people. My unique skills include creating and nurturing opportunities, event planning, promoting initiatives, and partnership marketing and I have a keen sensitivity to group dynamics, allowing me to adjust and respond effectively. I excel at bringing people together, online and offline, and fostering a sense of belonging. I can help where others might struggle by leveraging my diverse background to bridge gaps between individuals and groups, facilitating clear communication, and nurturing a supportive environment. Helping community-led brands to bring their people together and keep those people engaged is my superpower 😊 I’ve been in the Community space for 3 years now - I have built online communities , managed and grown a good number of them, and developed engagement strategies for these communities. One of my proudest moments was helping a community of practice to refine their community experience and increase their members by 50% in the first year. This in turn gave an increase to community engagement. Being a freelancer mostly, I have had the opportunity to work in different fields and this has shaped my ability to understand the unique needs and dynamics of different communities. I have a deep understanding of internet message boards and trends across various social media websites. I'm also happy to say that I have strong writing, editing, and public communication skills perfect for diverse global audiences. I originally graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a B.S. in International Relations and Politics, but I eventually discovered that my true passion lay elsewhere. I've been a volunteer moderator for various communities across Reddit, Discord, Twitch, YouTube, and other sites for the last 11 years. Eventually, I realized that I was really good at building and managing communities, and decided to pursue it as a career. Over the last few years, I've helped manage communities for companies such as Stack Overflow, Wizards of the Coast (specifically D&D Beyond), and Rooster Teeth Productions. I'm an experienced content marketer and copywriter with a decade in various roles, including in-house, agency, and consulting, primarily in consumer/B2B tech. My infatuation with communities started back in late 2020 when I was a fractional content lead at House of Wise (an affiliate-led DTC brand). I helped amplify the stories of members through written content, a newsletter, and a Clubhouse audio series interviewing high-achieving women and founders throughout the following year. I continued to build a strong network and made connections during my consulting years as DTC Mom. After encouragement from a few former clients turned friends, I founded a women's e-commerce Slack community with 70 members (and counting!). I currently lead marketing and partnerships for an e-commerce SaaS company but looking to be in a full-time community role. I'm a lifelong super-connector, writer, storyteller, and Enneagram nerd with an infectious personality. I keep the #random channel lively but stay organized, championing those working with me.

Through Connecteur, a certified Meta Community Management’s company, I provide consultancy for community strategy development, and train community leaders and managers. Being expert in communities of practice, I have over a decade of experience in the content field, in working with organizations, entrepreneurs, and businesses around the globe in online and offline platforms. I’m also the co-founder of MENAco, a professional network for women entrepreneurs in the hi-tech field from the Middle East and North Africa (the MENA region). I started believing in communities when I joined the Pune Running Community. And because of the community I was able to complete my 1st half marathon. And since then, I have been part of many communities and also started one called RemoteIndian that is a Community for remote workers in India 👨‍💻🇮🇳👩‍💻 that enables Indian professionals to help each other navigate, balance and grow in a remote career. I also was the Head of Community @ Pesto where I had the following highlights Led efforts to impact 20% of sales through community outreach: Built a 4-member team, organized events, fostered a 5,000+ online space, and curated helpful content. Helped over 650 people learn Javascript with a free training program, supporting skill-building within the community. Launched a weekly newsletter with a 15% open rate, sharing insights and inspiration to nurture connections. Organized 35+ events that brought together over 10,000 tech enthusiasts, plus a special alumni meetup for deeper engagement. My unique skills are - My technical background gives me a knack for online platforms - I am good at holding space. Folks who interact with me call me a good listener. For example, I have built a newsletter (that has 35% open rate and >5% click rate) using some scripts that resurface the top posts on Slack and the top contributors in a beautifully designed newsletter.
